Walnut kitchen with a free-standing island
A fully veneered kitchen across two walls, with an island standing free in the room as work surface and meeting point.
About the project
The room was tall and long but narrow – a classic single run would have made it look longer still. So we split the work zones across two walls and set the island deliberately free in the room.
The walnut veneers run on across the whole front: the grain carries without a break from the tall units to the appliance tower. There are no handles – everything opens on a continuous shadow gap.
The pale quartzite worktop is the only bright accent and settles the large dark timber surface. Lighting in the shelf recesses and under the wall units, a glass-fronted wine cabinet beside the entrance.
